Henderson, Nev. – The City of Henderson will host two open houses in January to preview the final Henderson Strong Comprehensive Plan. Over the past 18 months, city staff has been gathering public input on priorities, goals and implementation items. Now, the city is inviting residents to review the final product.
Residents are encouraged to attend and learn more about the final Henderson Strong Comprehensive Plan by visiting open house style stations on topics including: healthy and livable communities, vibrant and resilient economy, transportation, implementing the vision and key priority areas. There will also be maps and information on proposed land use updates as well as activities for children.
Local governments are required to have an updated and reflective comprehensive plan and Henderson has experienced significant demographic and economic change since its last comprehensive plan was adopted in 2006. The need for the update was also driven by the city’s projected population growth that is estimated to add an additional 100,000 residents to the community over the next 20 years.
The Henderson Strong Plan uses research and strategies vetted through the recently adopted $3.5 million Southern Nevada Strong (SNS) Regional Plan, but on a local level and in ways that work for Henderson’s unique community needs.
The updated plan will ensure that the city’s vision is current and reflective of community priorities and further promotes Henderson as an attractive place for residents, students and businesses.
