Henderson, Nev. – Excavation for repairs to a major water transmission pipeline will require a half road closure at the intersection of Horizon Ridge Parkway and Gibson Road, beginning tonight.

Vehicles will be diverted to the north side of Horizon Ridge Parkway between Valare Street on the west and Paseo Verde Parkway on the east. Motorists should expect delays and plan to take an alternate route until repairs to the pipeline are complete.

The half road closure will enable Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) crews to excavate and make repairs to the South Valley Lateral water transmission line, which delivers water to the City of Henderson from their River Mountains Water Treatment Facility. There is no anticipated interruption in water service to customers.

Prior to SNWA initiating repairs, water from a portion of the South Valley Lateral will be drained into a drainage channel adjacent to the Equestrian Detention Basin at Magic Way and Equestrian Drive. The water will flow westerly toward Heritage Park at Racetrack Road and Burkholder Boulevard but will primarily be contained within the existing storm water system and conveyed to the Las Vegas Wash and Lake Mead.
