Henderson, Nev. – Henderson’s annual Fourth of July celebration will be a little different this year. The event, which draws thousands of people to the city each year, is being moved to a bigger venue. The Fourth of July festivities will be held at one of the city’s largest parks, Heritage Park, located at 350 E. Racetrack Rd., between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. on July 4. Admission is free.
“It is exciting to watch our Fourth of July celebration grow in popularity over the years,” said Nick McLemore, Recreation Services Manager for the City of Henderson Public Works, Parks and Recreation Department. “The number of people who are attending our event continues to grow, so this year we made the decision to change the location to accommodate the increase in crowd size. We are keeping the tradition of Fourth of July fireworks and festivities, but just doing it in a different and bigger location.”
The move to the 160-acre park, which is the largest multiuse sports complex in the Las Vegas Valley, allows for more activities and games too. The festivities will take place on the lighted multiuse fields. They include human hamster balls, bounce houses, Zippy pals (electric animal rides), a small Ferris wheel, face painting and children’s art activities. Cornhole toss and hula hoops will also be available.
Other activities planned for the Fourth of July celebration include a concert by Wildfire. The band will perform hits by artists ranging from Stevie Wonder to Walk to the Moon from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Food and beverage vendors will be on site for the event as well. Plus attendees can take advantage of built-in park amenities such as picnic areas, a playground and a walking course.
The evening will conclude with a fireworks show at 9 p.m. Pyrotecnico will present an 18-minute fireworks display that will be synched to music above Heritage Park in honor of America’s birthday.
