Henderson, Nev. – Fairy tale fans are ogre-the-moon with today’s announcement. The Huntsman Entertainment Production of Shrek the Musical plays at the Henderson Pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Pkwy., for a 4-performance run next year. Shows are at 7 p.m. on March 16, 17, 23 and 24, 2018. Tickets start at $20 per person plus tax and fees. VIP tickets, which are available for $50 per person plus tax and fees, include premium seating and a pre-show dinner with Shrek the Musical cast members.

Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation motion picture, Shrek the Musical is a Tony Award-winning fairytale adventure, featuring songs from Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie; Caroline, or Change) and book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire. The musical brings all the beloved characters from the film, including Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, Gingy and Pinocchio, to life on stage.

In a land far, far away, Shrek the Musical tells the story of a misunderstood ogre who embarks on a life-changing adventure to reclaim the deed to his land. Joined by his trusty steed – a wise-cracking donkey – this unlikely hero must rescue a princess from a tower guarded by a fearsome dragon. If Shrek succeeds, his swampy home will be cleared of all fairy tale things, which found refuge after being evicted from Duloc by Lord Farquaad.

Shrek the Musical is the second collaboration with the City of Henderson and Huntsman Entertainment Production. The first was Disney’s The Little Mermaid, which made a splash at the Henderson Pavilion earlier this year. Native Southern Nevadan Steve Huntsman is set to direct Shrek the Musical. The accomplished actor’s onstage credits include Legally Blonde The Musical and Monty Python’s Spamalot, among others, while his credits as an award-winning director include Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and Tarzan, as well as All Shook Up and Hairspray.

Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. on Oct. 26, 2017 at HendersonPavilion.com or by phone at 702-267-4TIX (4849).
