Stop DUI Partnership
City of Henderson has joined forces with Stop DUI in January 2016 to help educate those who have been convicted of driving under the influence and make a difference in our community.
Stop DUI, a local non-profit organization dedicated to preventing drunk driving and assisting victims of DUI crashes, moved their offices to Henderson this month operating out of the Alternative Sentencing Department building at 302 Tin St.
“We are very excited to work with Stop DUI and have them be a part of our education and prevention efforts,” said Chief Ian Massy of the Henderson Alternative Sentencing Department. “The consequences of drinking and driving are life altering and our programs try to reach those convicted of DUI so they don’t drive drunk again.”
Stop DUI will be holding monthly victim impact panels in Henderson. The purpose of the victim impact panels is to help the DUI offenders to realize the long-lasting effects that a DUI crash can have on a person and a family. The panels also give the victims an opportunity to share their stories. Those convicted of DUI are often ordered to attend DUI education classes and victim impact panels as part of their sentence.
“Drunk driving is 100 percent preventable” Chief Massy said. “We want everyone to plan for a sober ride home from Super Bowl parties or any time they go out socializing that involves drinking.”
