The Alternative Sentencing division of the City Manager's Office offers a wide range of services to the community. The division assists court-mandated defendants in complying with post-sentencing requirements through such programs as Highway Alcohol Awareness (DUI School) and traffic school, program referral, and case tracking. This division also has two Substance Abuse Evaluation Technicians on staff to provide written evaluations that are used for sentencing recommendations.
The Alternative Sentencing division has a comprehensive network of agencies that are appropriate to provide a wide array of services such as substance abuse counseling, inpatient/detox services, certified domestic battery counseling, anger management, impulse control, counseling for sex offenders, mental health services, etc. We can assist in placing court ordered defendants in appropriate settings in order to comply with sentencing requirements. Defendants referred from Henderson Municipal Court are instructed to select a provider agency from a court approved list. The requirements are monitored and a report is provided to court of jurisdiction at the date of each status check. (Defendants are responsible to provide this office with updated court return dates).
