How to Donate Property to the City
Compile the following items for submittal to the City's Property Management Division:

  • A written statement explaining:
    • What is being donated and why,
    • A site plan of the property and surrounding properties,
    • If requested by the City, who at City requested it,
    • A general description of where the property is located, and
    • The contact person
  • A current preliminary title report
  • One copy of the deed showing current ownership and the current Assessor Parcel Number
  • One copy of the description and sketch exhibits, incorporating the following:
    • See NAC 625.790 for basic requirements for preparing documents,
    • Area (square feet or acres),
    • Description stamped and signed by PLS,
    • See NRS 111.312 requiring the name & mailing address of the author of metes and bounds descriptions
    • Lettering at least 0.10",
    • Spell out North, South, East, and West in the bearings (this makes the direction easier to read once document is microfilmed),
    • Sketch exhibit must reflect description exhibit (for example, if a radial bearing is used in the description, show the radial bearing on the sketch),
    • Legal description is Exhibit "A" and the sketch is Exhibit "B", and
    • Conform to Recorder's requirements NRS 247.110 for paper type, color, margins, etc.
    • Closure calculations

Submit the packet to the Property Management Division. Request will be placed on the next available Property Management Committee Meeting agenda for consideration.

After request is approved by the Committee:

  • Survey / Right-of-Way Sections will:
    • Review the preliminary title report, and
    • Review the legal description and sketch for correctness

When the City approves the documents, Property Management will prepare the Grant, Bargain, and Sale Deed and return the deed document to the submitter for signatures.

Submitter returns the signed and notarized deeds to Property Management.

Property Management schedules the deed for acceptance at the next available City Council meeting.

Property Management records the document and files the original document with the City Clerk’s office. Copies will be sent to the submitter upon request.
