Photo of Fire Training CenterThe mission of the Training Division is to facilitate, coordinate, support and provide the Department's current and projected training initiatives in support of the mission of the Department. The training initiatives are outlined in the Training Plan, which is updated annually. The Training Division is responsible for the operational training and certification training for all front-line personnel, plus Command and Leadership Training for the Chief Officers of the Department.

The Training Division staff consists of one full-time Secretary II, one part-time Secretary I, one Student Assistant, one Administrative Analyst II, three Training Captains, three rotating Cadet Academy staff, one Public Education Specialist, and the Training Division Chief.

The Training Division provides training to the entire Fire Department according to Federal, State, County, and City mandates. In addition, NFPA standards and certification programs are supported such as Driver Certification, Fire Service Instructor, Incident Safety Officer, Fire Officer I & II, Officer Development School, and Officer Intern Programs. Training Division personnel also assist in providing training to other City departments and other agencies throughout the county
