SeaWorld

Travel to Sea World in San Diego and experience the wild Arctic up close with polar bears, beluga whales and other wildlife. Price includes round-trip transportation, all-day meal pass and unlimited use of all attractions. A parent/guardian must accompany children ages 3-13. Teens ages14-17 may travel unescorted if enrolled by a parent/guardian. Depart 2am from HPSF; 2:30am from HMGC. Register by August, 17, 2018. Ages 3+

Experience the Indiana Jones Adventure, Space Mountain, and Splash Mountain. Price includes round-trip transportation and unlimited use of all park attractions. Children must be at least three years old by the date of the trip, no exceptions. A registered parent/guardian must accompany children ages 3-13; teens ages 14-17 may travel unescorted if registered by a parent/guardian. Paunsaugunt Wildlife Museum

Enjoy the sites of Cedar Breaks Monument and Bryce Canyon on the way to the wildlife museum that highlights over 400 species of insects, mammals and birds from around the world. Catalina Island

Enjoy an hour-long ferry ride from San Pedro to Catalina Island on the state-of-the-art Catalina Express. On the island you can explore on your own or choose from one of the many sightseeing tours and activities available for an additional charge. Oatman (Arizona) & Riverside Casino (Laughlin)

Just across the Colorado River and up the hill from Laughlin is where you’ll find a living ghost town, Oatman. Take in the sights: historical buildings, burros walking the streets, costumed gunfighters, and strolling 1890s-style ladies. Shop at numerous specialty stores before heading to Laughlin to visit the antique car exhibit that includes the motorcycle that traveled around the world. There are two arcades for the youth and even a laser tag session (additional cost). There is a wide selection of eating establishments for dinner on your own. Moapa Valley National Wildlife Refuge

Experience a part of Clark County you haven’t seen before. The Moapa Valley National Wildlife Refuge is a secure habitat for the endangered Moapa dace, a small fish. This 116-acre refuge is a beautiful place to spend your day. Enjoy exploring and learning about the area on a short walk, followed by a volunteer project and time at the visitors center. Moapa Valley Day Corn Maze

The Moapa Valley Corn Maze uses creative farming to supply the entertainment by specifically trying to lose people in the cornfield. The corn maze design will be a challenging ranch waterwheel this year. There are pre-ordered stands with farm clues for those lost (which won’t do any good if you aren’t good at farm clues). Dress casually and wear closed-toe shoes. Bus leaves HPSF at noon and HMGC at 12:30 p.m. Bus returns to Henderson at 6:00 p.m. Register by Oct. 26. Ages 5+

Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge

Visit the lush wetlands and surrounding Mojave Desert on the nearly 4,000 acres at Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge. PNWR provides habitats for thousands of migratory birds, birds of prey, deer, reptiles, and rare fish. 20th Annual Pahrump Powwow

Enjoy the gourd dancers who are Native American military veterans. Their dancing prepares the circle for the rest of the dancers who will enter the circle and post their colors. Many different dances will be performed throughout the day. The event announcer explains what is happening. The event includes crafts, storytelling, vendors with a huge selection of quality merchandise from jewelry to pottery, and food vendors. Bring a folding chair or sit on the bales of hay or in the bleachers. Bus departs at 7:30 a.m. from HPSF and 8:00 a.m. from the HMGC. Buses return to Henderson at 6:30 p.m. Register by Nov. 7. Mesquite Balloon Festival

Lee Canyon Ski Trip

Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge

Ronald Reagan Presidential Library & Museum

Perched on a mountaintop with sweeping views of the surrounding mountains, valley and the Pacific Ocean, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library is one of California’s most beautiful and unique destinations. The 300-acre site, just 45 minutes from downtown Los Angeles, represents the “shining city on a hill.” The holdings include over 60 million pages of documents, more than 1.6 million photographs, a half million feet of motion picture film and tens of thousands of audio and video tapes. The self-tour includes the Oval Office, Reagan’s Achievements as Governor of California, the First Lady exhibit, and the Berlin Wall exhibit. A bonus is a walk-through on Air Force One and exhibits of Reagan’s Hollywood experiences. Depart at 3:00 a.m. from HPSF, 3:30 a.m. from HMGC. Dana Point Festival of Whales

Carp Rodeo

Join the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for a special day of fishing competition and fun at Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge. The Carp Rodeo runs from 9:00 a.m-noon. Nevada Department of Wildlife will provide 100 loaner fishing rods and bait; feel free to bring your own. Bring a sack lunch.   • Registration is open and ongoing for all excursions. Reserve your spot today! Register in person at any recreation center, senior center or indoor pool, or online using the activity codes listed.
  • If you need wheelchair accessible transportation, call us at least two weeks prior to the excursion at 702-267-4150.
  • Children MUST be accompanied by a registered parent/guardian in order to participate. See each excursion description for details.
  • Excursions may be canceled if minimum enrollment is not met by the registration deadlines listed.
  • Excursion departure/arrival sites: Downtown Recreation Center (DRC), 105 W. Basic Rd., Heritage Park Senior Facility (HPSF), 300 S. Racetrack Rd., Henderson Multigenerational Center (HMGC), 250 Green Valley Pkwy., and Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Pkwy. Return times are approximate.
