Christmas Tree Recycling

Dec. 26-Jan. 15
Bring your fresh tree (no artificial or flocked trees) to one of the following locations for recycling:

Tree mulch is placed around city park trees to provide nutrients, limit weed growth and limit mechanical damage to trunks. We encourage you to use mulch under your trees too. Free mulch is available at Pecos Legacy Park and Acacia Demonstration Gardens. Bring your own shovel and container.



Pictures With Santa

WinterFest

Our special holiday presentation of WinterFest, “North Pole Adventures,” includes a variety of family-friendly activities including the official tree-lighting ceremony with Mayor Debra March and Santa, gift and craft fair, food vendors, entertainment and an activity area where children can decorate cookies, mail a letter to Santa and build a toy in Santa’s workshop. The two-day festival is topped off with a spectacular evening light parade. All ages

Kids Night Out: Snow Day

Candy Cane Kids Holiday Celebration

Candy Cane Festival

Celebrate the magic of winter with us. The festivities include games, bounce house, treats, and underwater candy cane hunt. Reindeer Dash 5K Run and 1-Mile Walk

Make a dash to Pittman Wash Trail this winter for a jolly good time. Participants are encouraged to don their most cheerful costumes or ugly holiday sweaters. Whitney Wonderland

Bird Mobile Tour with Santa

Hop on the bird mobile for a fun ride around the BVP with Santa as your tour guide. After the tour, make your own bird ornament while enjoying a holiday treat. Ages 6-12

Give & Receive

In the spirit of the season, DRC patrons have the opportunity to donate clothes, toys, living items, and so much more through the DRC so that you can give back to the community. New Year’s Eve Lock-In

This overnight event allows children to enjoy various activities such as dancing, arts and crafts, scavenger hunts, team building, open play, and open swim and concludes with a New Year’s-themed movie. In addition to the abundance of activities, participants will enjoy a dinner and celebrate the New Year with an apple cider toast while watching the fireworks from an unobstructed view on city property. It is suggested that participants bring a sleeping bag, pillow, swimsuit, and towel.  Ages 6-10
