Henderson Municipal Court

Traffic School Information

You must appear at the clerk's window before or on the court date listed on your citation to enter a plea of Guilty or Nolo Contendre and request traffic school BEFORE you attend the class.  Traffic school does not reduce the fine amount but paying the fine and completing traffic school by the due date will amend the violation to a parking violation (no points are reported to DMV on parking violations).

You may only request traffic school once a year and there is a traffic school fee, which is in addition to your citation fine amount.  You will be given a due date and  list of approved schools at the time you enter a plea.  Failure to complete traffic school by the due date will result in the original violation being reported to DMV.

The Court's window clerk may offer 1st Level Traffic School (5-1/2 hour class) if:

  • The defendant has not attended traffic school anywhere in the last 12 months
  • The citation is for one (1) or two (2) moving violations which are four (4) points or less. Traffic school for violations for more than four (4) points or three (3) moving violations would need to be requested through the Judge on the court date.
  • Fine will be the standard bail listed on the citation.
  • Fine must be paid when the plea is entered.
  • Out of state defendants may send in a letter entering a plea AND requesting traffic school. The fine must be mailed with the letter.
The Court's window clerks may offer Repeat Offenders Traffic School (8 hour class) if:
  • The defendant has not previously attended Repeat Offender's Traffic School.
  • The citation is for one (1) moving violation, which is four (4) points or less.
  • Fine will be the standard bail listed on the citation.
  • Fine must be paid when the plea is entered.

After the defendant has entered a plea, they have the option of attending the LRS Systems On-Line Traffic School (1st  Level Class Only).
