HOA Enforcement/Jurisdiction

Local government does not have jurisdiction or enforcement rights over HOA's. Jurisdiction and enforcement is managed out of the Nevada State Ombudsman's office. The office of the Ombudsman for Owners in Common-Interest Communities (including HOA's) was created by the State Legislature in the 1997 Session. The office was created to assist homeowners and board members in common interest communities to better understand their rights and obligations under the law and their governing documents. You can reach their offices by calling (702) 486-4480.

To learn more about the State Ombudsman office and their duties, go to http://www.red.state.nv.us/CIC/cic_home.htm

If an HOA member has complaints about their Board or Community Management Company, complaints can be lodged through the State Ombudsman's Office. Go to http://www.red.state.nv.us/compliance/compliance.htm for the complaint form.
