Henderson, Nev. – The city of Henderson seeks companies to participate in the "Henderson BusinessStar" pilot program, a custom business coaching program that helps Henderson businesses grow and expand their profitability. Henderson's Economic Development Division is contracting with the UNLV School of Business and the Nevada Small Business Development Center to provide a selected number of Henderson businesses with resources and customized coaching at no cost.
The BusinessStar program will provide custom business resources and consulting in the areas of finance, accounting, sales, marketing, business and strategic planning, growth/expansion issues and human resources.
"Economic success doesn't come from just recruiting new businesses to the area," said Henderson Mayor James B. Gibson. "It is crucial that we help grow the businesses that are already here, and the BusinessStar program is a unique opportunity for us to do just that. This program is about supporting our current businesses and helping them become successful partners with us here in Henderson."
Bob Cooper, manager of Henderson's Economic Development Division, said the custom business coaching model not only makes the program unique, but it makes the program likely to have a high return on investment.
"When businesses reach a certain level, many times an outside perspective or simply guidance from someone with experience can make a huge difference in a company," Cooper said. "This program is aimed at helping successful, small companies that are motivated to grow. We just want to make them even better."
A goal of 12 businesses that meet the following criteria will be selected by the BusinessStar selection committee to participate in the pilot program:
Applications are available online from Henderson's Economic Development Division at www.hendersonmeansbusiness.com. Click on the "Business Information" link to access.
