Henderson, Nev. – Ruth Moody, singer/songwriter and member of folk darlings the Wailin’ Jennys, will travel to Henderson for the ArtBeat presented by Target fall season with a performance at the Henderson Events Plaza, 200 Water St., in the Water Street District at 8 p.m. on Friday, October 18. Admission is complimentary. ArtBeat presented by Target is the City of Henderson’s signature cultural arts series.
Prior to the show, starting at 6:30 p.m., local artisans will display their work, to include crafts, original art and jewelry. A complimentary children’s craft station will also be offered. Food concessions will be available for purchase.
Moody is touring in support of her second solo album, “These Wilder Things,” which has garnered international acclaim for its timeless original songs as well as a haunting folk treatment of Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing In the Dark.”
Her clear soprano lends a dream-like quality to Moody’s roots-inspired folk songs, which are influenced in part by her childhood on the Canadian prairies. Moody’s work has been recognized with two Juno Awards and her song “One Voice,” the signature tune for the Wailin’ Jennys, has been recognized by the USA Songwriting Competition and has been covered by artists around the world.
Moody will be accompanied by her acclaimed touring band, which includes Adrian Dolan, fiddle, mandolin, viola, mandola, accordion and vocals; Adam Dobres, electric and acoustic guitars, ukulele and vocals; and Sam Howard, upright bass and vocals.
