Avellino Park Grand Opening Set For Feb. 23

February 11, 2013

Henderson, Nev. The city of Henderson and Ryland Homes are hosting a grand opening celebration for Avellino Park, 1050 Chaparral Rd., from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 23. Mayor Andy Hafen and members of the Henderson City Council will join the community for the park’s official opening, which will include activities, food and refreshments.

Avellino Park sits on five acres and includes a lighted basketball court, covered picnic shelters, barbecues, exercise course, open grass area, playground, restrooms, and a walking course. It was developed by Ryland Homes and constructed by Sunstate Companies through the city’s developer turnkey park program. Under the program, a developer builds a neighborhood park in accordance with city guidelines and standards and then dedicates the completed park to the city for public use. The park will be maintained by the city.

“Turnkey parks bring tremendous value to our residents because they help us to keep pace with the community’s needs without relying on our general fund to do so,” said Jacob Snow, Henderson City Manager. “The city enjoys positive relationships with our local development community, and Avellino Park is a fine example of that. Ryland Homes has helped to make a great neighborhood even better.”

Avellino Park will be open 6:00 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week. For additional information, visit
