The city of Henderson is seeking entries for the WinterFest Gingerbread House Competition. All entries must be 90 percent edible, made of gingerbread, frosting and candy, and reflect the theme, An Old-Fashioned Christmas Delight. It’s complimentary to participate. Applications are available at HendersonLive.com. Registration deadline is Thursday, December 5.
WHAT: WinterFest Gingerbread House Competition
WHEN: Friday, December 13 from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. and Saturday, December 14 from noon-8 p.m.
WHERE: Henderson Convention Center, 200 Water St., in the historic Water Street District
WHY: The WinterFest Gingerbread House Competition is a special tradition held during Henderson’s annual Christmas celebration. The event attracts dozens of participants who, in the spirit of the holiday season, create elaborate and festive confectionary homes for display.
Winners will be selected by popular vote. Cash prizes will be awarded for Best School/Organization ($100) and Best Family/Individual ($100), courtesy of several community partners. The top participant entered in the Artist/Professional category will receive a Best in Show award.
Ballots will be tallied and awards will be presented at the Henderson Events Plaza, 200 Water St., on Saturday, December 14 at approximately 7:30 p.m.
