City of Henderson Fire Department Responds to Residential Structure Fire

Henderson, Nev. – The city of Henderson Fire Department responded at approximately 10:10 a.m. to a single family residential structure fire near the intersection of Boulder Highway and Barrett Street. The occupants were home and alerted by the smell of smoke. The 911 system was activated by the occupants who exited the residence without injuries.
The first Henderson Fire Department unit arrived to find a fully involved car port and bedroom fire of a single family residence. The fire was also threatening the house next door.
An aggressive and coordinated offensive attack was initiated. Fire crews quickly knocked down the main body of the fire and advanced inside to complete the fire attack and conduct a life search. The fire was extinguished and there were no injuries to firefighters or pets.
Nevada Energy, a city of Henderson building inspector and fire investigator, and the American Red Cross were called in to assist with the incident.
The Henderson Fire Department fire investigator has completed the investigation and determined the cause to be accidental. Damage is estimated at $15,000 total. The American Red Cross assisted in relocating the occupants of the home.
