Henderson, Nev. – The North American Travel Journalists Association (NATJA) announced that the City of Henderson Department of Cultural Arts & Tourism was recognized with a Silver Award in the category of social media/marketing campaign (marketing budget less than $400,000) in the 2012 Annual NATJA Awards Competition. Henderson’s winning entry, “Destination Exclusive,” is a quarterly e-publication promoting special offers, deals and packages to Henderson resorts, hotels, attractions, and amenities.
“It’s an honor for Henderson to be recognized by a prestigious organization like NATJA,” said City Manager Jacob Snow. “Tourism plays an integral role in boosting our local economy, and that’s why it is critical that our marketing efforts strategically position Henderson as a premier destination.”
The NATJA awards program, now in its 21st year, recognizes excellence in travel writing, photo journalism, social media, multimedia platforms, advertising, marketing, and public relations for the travel and tourism industry. This year’s program received more than 500 submissions from around the world. The only other entry to place in the social media/marketing campaign category was “Savor the San Juans,” entered by the San Juan Islands Visitors Bureau.
“This year’s entries were outstanding, both in quality of the journalism, excellence and range of coverage,” said Helen Hernandez, CEO, NATJA. “The creativity is reflective of the vibrancy of the travel journalists’ community and destination marketing organizations. The winners transported the reader through evocative storytelling and spell-binding photography.”
