Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve Offers Birding Under the Stars

Henderson, Nev. – The Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve, 350 E. Galleria Dr., is offering visitors a unique opportunity to take part in a nighttime birding experience. Birding Under the Stars will take place 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, September 21. Registration is $14 per person (ages 8 and up) and may be made at cityofhenderson.com using activity code 664020-00 or in person at any city of Henderson recreation center. Registration is required.
Participants will take a staff-guided tour around the preserve to look for and observe nocturnal birds, including owls, night herons and nighthawks, as well as other wildlife that are most active after dark. A telescope will be available at the visitor’s center for star gazing.
Participants are asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to the event to check in. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
The Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve is home to thousands of migratory waterfowl as well as numerous resident desert birds. There are nine ponds available for birding, surrounded by paved and soft surface paths.
