Henderson, Nev. – This September, as part of National Preparedness Month, the city of Henderson encourages all residents to take simple steps to prepare for emergencies. Disasters can happen anytime and anywhere without notice. Families should prepare an emergency plan and build an emergency supply kit to be self-reliant for a few days without water, electricity or access to a grocery store.
National Preparedness Month was founded after 9/11 to increase preparedness in the United States and to help our communities prepare for emergencies. Sponsored by the Ready Campaign and Citizen Corps, this year’s National Preparedness Month will focus on strengthening our communities through public events and online resources.
Throughout September, volunteers from the city of Henderson will attend various events providing information to help Henderson residents be prepared for disasters. Tips and resources are also available at cityofhenderson.com to help protect yourself, your family and your home.
Preparedness is a shared responsibility and everyone has a role. By taking action now, we can contribute to a quicker recovery and lessen the impact of disasters on our community.
