Henderson Helps Blue Star Mothers Send Holiday Stockings to Troops

Members of the Henderson City Council and city of Henderson residents, businesses and employees will join the Blue Star Mothers as they assemble holiday stockings for troops deployed overseas.
WHAT: Holiday stockings for deployed troops
WHO: The Henderson City Council, Henderson residents, businesses and employees, and Blue Star Mothers of Henderson and Boulder City
WHEN: November 21 and 22, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
WHERE: Henderson Convention Center, 200 Water St.
WHY: The Blue Star Mothers are collecting items for 1,000 holiday stockings to ship to local military members who are serving abroad. Henderson residents, businesses and employees can donate items to fill the stockings. After assembling, the filled stocking will be sent to the troops to thank them and help brighten their holidays.
Photo opportunity: Councilwoman Debra March, Councilwoman Gerri Schroder and students from McCaw Elementary School will assemble stockings between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. on November 21.
The Blue Star Mothers of Henderson and Boulder City are a volunteer organization of mothers with children who are or have honorably served in the military. The Blue Star Mothers provide support for active duty service personnel, promote patriotism, assist veterans’ organizations and are available to assist in homeland volunteer efforts.
The Blue Star Mothers have been collecting a long list of supplies with the goal to stuff 1,000 holiday stockings with the comforts of home. Stockings will be sent to local military members who are currently deployed overseas. Collection boxes have been placed throughout Henderson City Hall, recreation centers and with local businesses in the Water Street District. The public is invited to help assemble stockings at the Henderson Convention Center November 21 and 22.
