Henderson, Nev. – The city of Henderson hosts the 27th annual Shakespeare in the Park this fall. The Las Vegas Shakespeare Company presents The Comedy of Errors, Saturday, October 5 at River Mountain Park, 1941 Appaloosa Dr.; Saturday, October 12 at Discovery Park, 2011 Paseo Verde Pkwy.; and shore side at Lake Las Vegas, 15 Cost Di Lago, on Saturday, October 19. All performances begin at 7 p.m. with a green show taking place one hour prior to show time. Admission is complimentary.
“Shakespeare in the Park is one of my favorite events,” said Mayor Andy Hafen. “It holds a special place in my heart because it started during my first year as a city councilman. As I’ve grown, along with my family, I’ve seen Shakespeare in the Park blossom into an extraordinary event that thousands have enjoyed.”
Shakespeare in the Park is considered one of Henderson’s oldest traditions. For nearly three decades, the popular theater series has entertained more than 300,000 fans. Since its inaugural season, it has featured professional performances of Shakespeare’s greatest comedies, tragedies and romances, from Hamlet to Romeo & Juliet and this year’s play, The Comedy of Errors.
The Comedy of Errors, one of the Bard’s earliest plays, is a comedic story about two sets of twins who were accidently separated at birth. Unknowingly living in neighboring cities, the siblings meet by chance, launching into a spiral of wild misadventures, mistaken identity and slapstick humor.
