Henderson, Nev. – A motorcycle rider died Thursday after he lost control of his motorcycle and struck a light pole.
A 20-year-old Henderson man was riding a Suzuki Katana motorcycle eastbound on Windmill Parkway approaching the intersection with Arroyo Grande Boulevard Thursday about 11:20 a.m. when he lost control. The motorcycle left the roadway and struck the center median. The rider, who was the sole occupant, was separated from the motorcycle and struck a light pole.
The rider was taken to Sunrise Hospital Trauma for treatment; however, he died from his injuries. He was wearing a helmet. The man was the registered owner of the motorcycle, but he did not have a motorcycle driver’s license.
A preliminary investigation indicated that speed appeared to be a factor in the crash. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be involved. The roadway was closed for about three hours while fatal accident investigators conducted their investigation.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name after he has been positively identified and his family has been notified.
The man’s death was the second traffic-related fatality in Henderson this year.
