Henderson, Nev. – Teens and preteens with an interest in lifeguarding can learn valuable skills in the city of Henderson’s Jr. Lifeguard spring break clinic. The program is offered 8:00-11:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday, March 25-28, at Heritage Park Aquatic Complex, 310 S. Racetrack Rd. It is open to participants ages 11-15 and is $50 per person. Register at www.cityofhenderson.com/parks (activity code 136004-00) or at any City of Henderson recreation center or indoor pool.
Jr. Lifeguard participants will spend time with members of the city’s Aquatics team and learn what it takes to be a lifeguard. Participants will also learn about the importance of emergency action plans, water safety, customer service, shadow guarding, and how to assist with swim lessons. The program also serves as a preview of the city’s Jr. Lifeguard summer program, which pairs up participants with lifeguards in a hands-on setting. Many participants in the summer Jr. Lifeguard program go on to earn their lifeguard certifications at age 15.
