Destination Henderson Wins 2013 NATJA Award for Excellence in Travel Promotion
Destination Planning Guide receives bronze level in global competition

March 03, 2014

Destination Henderson, just minutes from the Las Vegas Strip and McCarran International Airport, won bronze level in the 2013 Annual NATJA Awards Competition in the Visitors’ Guide category for its self-produced Destination Planning Guide. The 22-year competition honors the “best of the best” in travel writing, photography and promotion, covering all facets of the travel industry worldwide.

NATJA Awards recognize excellence in travel writing, photojournalism, multimedia platforms, social media, advertising, marketing and public relations for the travel and tourism industry. This year, NATJA received 600 submissions from all over the globe.

“This year’s entries were an outstanding mix of local and international stories with dynamic and creative elements that provided the visual through words or photography to transport the reader to the destination,” said Helen Hernandez, CEO of the organization. “The judging has become increasingly difficult every year given the abundance of talent in the travel journalism community.”

The Destination Planning Guide is the official planning guide for Henderson, Nevada. It provides information to leisure travelers, meeting planners and travel agents information on the destination’s premier resorts, meeting facilities, attractions, entertainment and signature annual events.

“We are privileged to be recognized amongst the world’s top tourism cities,” said Mayor Andy Hafen. “Destination Henderson is a premier leisure and meeting destination, and to be recognized by professionals in the travel journalism industry for this, is a true honor.”
