Henderson, Nev. – The colors, tastes and sounds of New Orleans will transform Heritage Park Senior Facility, 300 S. Racetrack Rd., during its evening Mardi Gras Celebration. The event takes place 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, February 28. Registration is $10 per person (ages 25+) and may be made at cityofhenderson.com or at any Henderson recreation center (activity code 151148-78). Participants are asked to register by February 21 as space is limited.
The event includes a variety of catered Cajun dishes, traditional king cake and live New Orleans-style jazz. Guests are invited to wear the colors of Mardi Gras: purple, signifying justice; gold, which stands for power, and green, which represents faith. Colorful Mardi Gras beads and masks will be provided.
“Mardi Gras is embraced by many cultures around the world with a tradition of bringing people together to celebrate what makes us unique,” said Mayor Andy Hafen. “Our event also brings people together with an emphasis on community spirit and camaraderie.”
