Jr. Lifeguard Spring Clinic Set For April

March 03, 2014

Henderson, Nev. – Teens interested in learning about lifeguarding can gain hands-on experience at the City of Henderson’s Jr. Lifeguard Spring Clinic. The program takes place 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., Monday-Thursday, April 14-17 at Heritage Park Aquatic Complex, 310 S. Racetrack Rd. Enrollment is $50 per teen (ages 12-15) and registration is accepted at any indoor pool or recreation center or online at using activity code 136004-02.

The clinic introduces teens to the city’s Aquatics team and provides instruction on water safety and what it takes to become a certified lifeguard. Topics explored include emergency action plans, customer service, shadow guarding and assisting with swimming lessons. Participants gain the confidence and knowledge they need to handle themselves safely in various water situations.

The April clinic also serves as introduction to the city’s Jr. Lifeguard program, which pairs up participants with lifeguards for hands-on experience and training. Many Jr. Lifeguards will go on to earn their American Red Cross Lifeguard Training certifications (minimum age 15).
