Henderson, Nev. – The City of Henderson is accepting applications for its Teens-N-Training (TNT) junior leader program. The program provides teens with hands-on summer learning experiences that promote leadership and responsibility. Participation is $110 per teen (ages 14 and 15), and includes training and T-shirts. Applications will be available starting March 11 at cityofhenderson.com and at all Henderson recreation centers. Completed applications must be submitted by April 18.
The TNT program trains teens to become future recreation leaders and provide support to the city’s youth summer camps and programs. TNT affords teens the opportunity to gain leadership experience, enhance self-confidence and learn the importance of providing excellent customer service. Teens selected for the program are given summer assignments based on their interests, skills and availability.
“The TNT program is unique because each teen applicant is given an interview, much as they would for an actual job,” said Mayor Andy Hafen. “The experience these teens gain throughout just one summer provides them with work-related experience and instills the importance of being part of a team.”
Teens’ TNT volunteer service hours may qualify for community service credit with the Clark County School District. Participants should contact their school guidance counselors in advance for details and to receive prior approval.
