Harvest Festival
September 20, Heritage Park Senior Facility, 300 S. Racetrack Rd.
11am-2pm, Saturday
Our Harvest Festival is sure to be a good ol’ time. The all-ages event features a bounce house, petting zoo, face painting, games for all generations, live entertainment and a craft fair with more than 30 vendors. Refreshments include hot dogs, cotton candy and popcorn. The event also includes senior health and information vendors, including volunteer opportunities, fraud alerts and safety tips, U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs representatives and mobile unit, lead removal resources, and free screenings to include vision, hearing, balance and blood pressure. Admission is free for all ages.

College Night Workshop
September 30, Black Mountain Recreation Center, 599 Greenway Rd.
6pm-8pm, Tuesday
The Henderson Blue Ribbon Commission’s free annual workshop is designed to provide college-bound students and their parents with resources, tips and recommendations on preparing for college and what to expect. Speakers will present topics such as applications, scholarship resources, resumes and what high school students can do now to attract colleges’ interest. All ages. Free. Registration is not required.

Parks and Recreation Pricing Study Meeting

The City of Henderson is undergoing a pricing study of its parks and recreation programs—some prices will change. We invite you to provide feedback and share your opinions. Birding Under the Stars
October 4, Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve, 350 E. Galleria Dr.

Our expert birders take you on a unique tour of the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve to see birds and other wildlife at night. We’ll look for nocturnal owls, nighthawks and night herons. Please arrive 15 minutes early for check in; late arrivals will not be able to go out on their own. Ages 8+. $14. Haunted at the Ranch

Make a Difference Day

Help install trees that provide shade and beautify our city. Learn how to care for plants, trees and shrubs. Arborists and gardening enthusiasts will be on hand to help you with all your gardening and planting questions. Lunch is provided.

Munchable Monster House

Take some chocolate frosting, graham crackers and colorful candy and make a sweet (and very edible) haunted house. They’re fun to make and even more fun to eat. All supplies provided. Trunk or Treat

Henderson’s premier safe trick-or-treating event returns for an evening of festive fun. Put on your costumes and follow the trick-or-treat trail in our parking lot where we pass out treats (or tricks). Event includes a costume contest, activities and entertainment. Each paid participant receives a wristband for admission. Parents may accompany children for free. Register early for this popular and safe event. $3 per person, all ages. Tots Trick or Treat Trail

Dress your little ones in their Halloween costumes and let them trick or treat in our center. Admission is free, but a donation of two canned food items to benefit the Henderson Salvation Army would be appreciated. Admission is free. Ages 1-5.

Bring your toddlers dressed in their Halloween finest for a safe trick or treating event filled with carnival games with prizes, bounce houses. Junior Naturalist Day
November 29, Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve, 350 E. Galleria Dr.

Junior naturalists go out into the field with a knowledgeable Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve staff member to collect data on weather conditions, plants, animals, and birds. The hands-on workshop focuses on outdoor exploration and investigation and encourages a respect for the natural world. Ages 6-12.
