News and Information
  • The citywide energy performance contract, completed in 2011, replaced in excess of 28,000 street lights and upgraded nearly 60 city buildings with a resulting annual energy savings over $2 million. Henderson is the only municipality in Nevada to undergo a retrofit of this magnitude. The project received the 2011 Nevada-American Public Works Association Project of the Year and 2012 Association of Energy Engineers Energy Project of the Year. The city is pursuing a new energy performance contract to replace all existing trail, park, ballfield and parking lot lights from incandescent to LED, which will retrofit over 3,000 lights with an expected energy reduction of nearly 65 percent.
