Water Street District

Water Street District LogoWhether it’s a developer looking for “the” location for its first or next project; an entrepreneur or established merchant searching for that perfect retail space; an artist who wants to pioneer an up and coming arts community: a business person in need of office space; a person who dreams of urban loft living, or someone who simply wants to shop, dine and enjoy a concert, the Water Street District is the place to be.

With the plans, commitment, resources and expertise to create an entertainment, retail and residential area, the Water Street District is one of the hottest redevelopment areas in the Southwest and is attracting the attention of developers, retailers, restaurateurs, artists, future residents, and customers.

Be Entertained
At the center of Water Street District is the Henderson Events Plaza Amphitheater, which hosts a variety of performances and concerts coordinated by the Henderson Cultural Arts and Tourism Department. Since its opening in 2006, the Plaza & Amphitheater shows have brought more than 650,000 people to Water Street.

Live
As it progresses, Henderson’s Water Street District will boast urban-style living at its best including condominiums and lofts, as well as a select number of high-end apartments for the young professional. Projects either completed, under construction or planned bring more than 600 condominiums, five luxury apartments and 65 lofts to the Water Street District.

Dine
Family-oriented and kid-friendly dining is, and will remain, a trademark of the Water Street District. Yet, restaurant menu selections will be ideal for the area’s more than 7000-person employee-base. In the evening, dining options will turn more to the date night scene.

Shop
Water Street District merchants, the owners and proprietors of bookstores, florists, jewelry stores, and much more, eagerly welcome the entrepreneurs and franchisees who will join them in celebrating the success of the Water Street District as they launch businesses in the growing available square footage of retail space coming on line within the Water Street District. It is estimated that approximately 80,000 square-feet of retail space will be constructed within the next 12 months. Also planned is Lake Mead Crossing, a major shopping and office center on 74 acres at Lake Mead Parkway and Water Street that will contain over 700,000 square feet of retails, including Target, Ross, PetSmart, Staples and Sportsman’s Warehouse.

Play
Work out, play basketball, swim, climb a rock wall. Just around the corner from the Water Street District main street is the Downtown Henderson Recreation Center featuring a 24-foot-high rock-climbing wall with auto-belay system, outdoor pool, elevated walking/jogging track, warm-up and fitness area, gymnasium and wallyball/racquetball court, steam room, sauna, showers and a game room with GameCube, Xbox and PlayStation 2. Numerous classes are available for adults and children.

Strictly for adults, the Water Street District also is home to three casinos and some trendy taverns that are open for late evening entertainment.

Arts & Culture
The Water Street District is a home for the arts and artists. Without a doubt, the Water Street District shines brightly throughout Southern Nevada because of its thriving arts community. A leisurely stroll throughout the Water Street District brings visitors face-to-face with building-size murals created by internationally famous muralists and depicting the history of Henderson. The Water Street District arts crowd may enjoy artists previews and demonstrations and live entertainment at the Third Thursday Artswalk while enjoying numerous galleries that feature an array of local, regional and national artists showcasing varying styles and modalities.

Events
Thousands of visitors come to Water Street each year for events that are known throughout the Southwest. The Water Street District is the location for Henderson’s annual ArtFest, which attracts more than 70,000 attendees over a two-day period each Mother’s Day weekend in May. SuperRun, Southern Nevada’s premier car show brings over 100,000 visitors to Water Street every September.
