10 | 2016 Strategic Plan Progress Report Community Safety Major Challenge Areas 1. 9-1-1 Call Center Technology (Police) • Business requirements have been completed for the Motorola Premier- One CAD upgrade. • The entire Southern Nevada Area Communications Council (SNACC) system transitioned to full digital in late March 2016. Henderson Police Department Communications worked with SNACC and Motorola engineers to fine-tune the system. 2. Crime Laboratory (Police) • Received the final lab plans. On schedule to complete the ISO 17025 Forensic Testing Lab Accreditation in FY2017, which should open up funding streams to begin construction of phases one and two. 3. Emergency Preparedness (Fire) • Continued focus on individual and family preparedness through the Get READY! Stay READY! campaign. The campaign has reached over 140,000 people this fiscal year through printed media, information booths at local events and live presentations. The campaign is supported by 23 city and 24 community volunteers. The City of Henderson's Get READY! Stay READY! program was one of 20 cities to be awarded the 2016 Outstanding Achievement City Livability Award. • Partnered with local agencies to develop a smartphone app that provides Southern Nevada residents with the ability to create an individualized emergency preparedness plan and receive critical emergency alerts and information on what to do before, during, and after an emergency. App users can also access news, weather alerts, evacuation routes, and emergency shelter information. Over 2,200 users have downloaded the app to date. • Achieved accreditation of the city's emergency management program by the Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP). The award was based on an in-depth review of the program's processes and plans by a peer-review team consisting of domestic and international experts in the field.
