The Henderson Alternative Sentencing Department came into existence on November 3, 2009. The
Department operates under the supervision of Alternative Sentencing Chief Ian Massy. The primary objective of
the Department is to promote victim and public safety by holding probationers
accountable while providing them with the opportunity for rehabilitation through
accessible, quality, probationer–funded programs.
The Department was formed through a reorganization effort that included
staff members from the City Attorney’s office and the Municipal Court. The
Department is comprised of four separate units: the Programs Unit, Enforcement
Unit, Assessment/Counseling Unit and Work Program / Community Service Unit. Each unit has
different responsibilities but work in unison to accomplish the Department's objectives.
