The proposed site lies on Federally-owned land completely outside the City of Henderson’s city limits in a County “island.” Click on the map to enlarge image.
Although the City of Henderson has no jurisdiction over the land in question, the City continues to monitor the situation and will pursue mitigation measures should the gravel pit be approved. However, the City is unable to oppose the proposal due to a settlement agreement from 2001.
The following PowerPoint presentation, which was given to Council at the December 15, 2009 City Council meeting, provides additional information regarding the background of the proposed gravel pit, the status of the EIS, and the City’s legal standing.
