Semi-Annual Citizens' Academy
The Henderson Police Department is now accepting applications for the upcoming 13-week Citizens academy to give citizens with a unique insight into the life and training of a Henderson Police officer. The application deadline is Dec. 6. The class will meet each Tuesday from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. starting on January 14 until April 8.

Applications can be picked up at the Main Station at 223 Lead Street, the Green Valley Substation at 300 S. Green Valley Parkway or the North Community Police Station at 225 E. Sunset Road. The goal of the Citizens' Academy is to build a bridge between the
citizens and the police department that serves them. During the 13-week
program, citizens experience a condensed version of the actual police
academy. The Citizens' Academy meets one
night a week for 3 hours. The participants are given a dress code and a strict
attendance requirement; no one is permitted to miss more than two classes. Graduates
of this program gain a unique insight into the life and training of a law enforcement

The project has been very successful and we anticipate the class filling up fast. There are two Citizens' Academies annually.
All applicants must live or work in the city of Henderson, be at least 18 years of age, and have no felony, gross misdemeanor, or misdemeanor convictions.
