City of Henderson Invites Residents to Participate in the 2018 Citizen Survey

November 01, 2018
Henderson, Nev. – The City of Henderson will be conducting a citizen survey over the next few weeks to compile resident feedback that will assist City leaders with strategic planning efforts to improve organizational performance and prioritize areas of focus for the next two years.

The City has conducted citizen surveys since 2004 to gauge resident satisfaction in such areas as quality of life, services provided by the City, roadways and infrastructure, parks and recreation programs, economic development and public safety. Many of the survey questions are standardized from year to year to measure shifts in residents’ perceptions over time while other questions are added that reflect current priorities within the community.

“Feedback from Henderson residents will help City leadership and staff identify what we are doing well and where there may be opportunities for improvement and will be used to help make important long-range planning and investment decisions,” said City Manager Richard Derrick. “Mayor Debra March and the City Council place a high value on citizen engagement and invite all residents to participate in the citizen survey to help us plan for the community’s future.”

Past citizen survey results have consistently shown high satisfaction levels with the quality of the city’s parks and recreation programs, public safety and the overall quality of life in Henderson. Previous surveys indicated that residents place a high importance on emergency preparedness, which resulted in the City dedicating additional resources in that area and the creation of the Get READY! Stay READY! public outreach program.

To derive statistically-valid results, about 12,000 Henderson households will be randomly selected to receive a mailed survey or a phone call from ETC Institute, a leading market research company specializing in local government organizations. All Henderson residents will be invited through social media to take the survey and share their feedback with the City online at The survey is expected to take about 15 minutes to complete and all responses are confidential.

Results from the 2018 citizen survey are expected in December and will be presented at a Henderson City Council meeting and posted online at
