Henderson, Nev. – The City of Henderson is hosting Henderson Shines on Saturday, May 4, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., at the Henderson Events Plaza, 200 S. Water St. This free, annual community cleanup and recycling effort gives residents the opportunity to dispose of hazardous household materials, recycle electronics and other items, donate goods and drop off sensitive documents to be shredded. The event is a collaborative partnership to provide a variety of cleanup and disposal services to residents. Onsite partners include:
• Republic Services who will be available to collect oil, batteries and paint to be disposed of safely.
• The Blind Center of Nevada who will be at the event to take electronic goods such as computers, cell phones, tablets and printers. This will provide residents and the community-at-large with a safe and efficient way to properly dispose of their old electronic devices while removing personal information.
• Opportunity Village PaperPros plant-based truck who will be on hand to collect sensitive documents and place them in secure bins for transportation to their facility for shredding. Each participant is limited to two Bankers Box-size containers.
• Opportunity Village Thrift Store who will also have a donation truck to collect gently used clothing and household items.
Televisions and tires will not be accepted.
At last year’s event, more than 28,000 pounds of paint, oil and batteries were dropped off for safe disposal. In addition, more than 14,000 pounds of material to be shredded and 2,500 pounds of household donations were collected.
