Henderson, Nev. – The Henderson Police Department will start a 20 day traffic enforcement action this week targeting speeders beginning January 2nd through January 22nd.
As part of the Joining Forces program, law enforcement agencies will work together to enforce speed limit laws. During this time, Henderson Police will dedicate extra officers to target several different streets at a time using saturation patrols throughout Henderson to stop speeding vehicles. Officers will target areas that are known for high speeds and areas that have received the most citizen complaints.
Speeding is a major factor in a large proportion of traffic crashes, injuries, and fatalities in the United States, according to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Henderson Police Department received $183,860 in federal funding for the extra patrols through the Nevada Department of Public Safety - Office of Traffic Safety for the 2019 Joining Forces program.
Joining Forces is a multi-jurisdictional law enforcement program aimed at reducing injuries and crashes through statewide enforcement of traffic safety laws. The goal is to save lives by increasing public awareness about the dangers of making poor choices while driving.
