Henderson, Nev. – The Henderson Police Department will start a traffic enforcement action this week targeting speeders beginning April 24th, and will run through May 8th.

As a part of the Joining Forces program, law enforcement agencies will work together to enforce speed limit laws.  During this time, Henderson Police will use extra officers for dedicated saturation patrols throughout the Henderson area to stop speeding vehicles.  These officers will target areas that are known for high speeds and areas that have received the most citizen complaints.

Joining Forces is a multi-jurisdictional law enforcement program aimed at reducing injuries and crashes through statewide enforcement of traffic safety laws.  The goal is to save lives by increasing public awareness about the dangers of making poor choices while driving.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2017, speeding accounted for more than a quarter (26%) of all traffic fatalities that year.

Henderson Police Department received $183,360 in federal funding for the extra patrols through the Nevada Department of Public Safety – Office of Traffic Safety for the 2019 Joining Forces program.
