Henderson Police Conclude Joining Forces Event Targeting Speeders

Henderson, Nev. – The Henderson Police Department concluded its 4th campaign under the current Joining Forces Program.

During the enforcement initiative that ran from January 2nd through January 22nd, 2019, Henderson Police, in conjunction with the Boulder City Police Department and Nevada Highway Patrol, stopped 478 motorists.

Of the 478 traffic stops, Traffic Officers issued 327 speeding citations, 30 citations for registration violations,  22 citations for red light violations, 12 citations for no insurance, 5 citations for distracted driving (such as cell phone use), 1 arrest for Driving Under the Influence, as well as several other citations issued for other traffic related offenses. Additionally, 69 motorists were issued a warning, in lieu of a citation.

The Henderson Police Department received $183,860 in federal funding through the Nevada Department of Public Safety - Office of Traffic Safety for the 2019 Joining Forces Program (performance period ending Sept 30, 2019). The grant provides funding for enforcement and education to reduce deaths and injuries on Nevada roadways. Enforcement events during the year focus on pedestrian safety, seat belt use, speeding, distracted driving and impaired driving.
