Henderson Police Investigate Dog Bite Incident Resulting in Death

Henderson, Nev. – At about 7:50 a.m., members of the Henderson Police Department, Animal Control, and Fire Department responded to the 100 block of Appian Way in reference to a dog bite incident.

Preliminary investigation determined a 15-month-old female sustained life threatening injuries caused by a large breed dog, reported to be a 4-year-old Rottweiler, owned by a family friend.

The child was transported to Henderson Hospital where the child succumbed to her injuries.

Henderson Animal Control Officers took custody of the dog and euthanized the dog at the owner’s request.

This is an open investigation; no additional details will be released at this time.

The identity of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
