Henderson, Nev. – On April 9, 2019, at approximately 8:00p.m., Henderson Police SWAT Team served a search warrant in the 6500 block of Curacao Drive in Las Vegas for the Southern Nevada Heroin Task Force.

Preliminary investigation indicates that after the Henderson SWAT Team successfully executed the search warrant and cleared the scene, a male suspect approached the residence armed with a gun in his hand while Task Force Detectives were completing the search warrant service.  Detectives gave verbal commands to the suspect to drop the gun as he continued toward Detectives.  Shots were fired by a Detective; the suspect retreated and was quickly taken into custody.  The suspect and Detectives were uninjured during the incident.

This is the second officer-involved shooting for 2019.

The involved Henderson Detective has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation and his name will be released after 48 hours, per department policy.
