Henderson Police Investigate Officer-Involved Shooting

Henderson, Nev. – On December 10th, 2019, at approximately 6:30 a.m., the City of Henderson Police Department responded to the 600 block of S. Boulder Highway in reference to a disturbance involving a male subject pounding on the business door.

Arriving officers located a 40-year-old male matching the description of the subject, later identified as Israel Valle-Lopez, in the parking lot in front of the entrance. Officers issued Lopez verbal commands, which were ignored. Lopez continued aggressing officers and produced a knife after being pushed to the ground. As officers attempted to take him into custody, he attempted to stab one of the officers, resulting in the use of deadly force. 

Lopez was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

No officers were injured during this incident.

Lopez was booked on one felony count of Assault on a Protected Person with a Deadly Weapon.

As this is an open investigation, no further details will be released at this time.

This is the sixth officer-involved shooting in 2019.

The involved Henderson Police Officers have been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, and names will be released after 48 hours, per department policy.
