Henderson, Nev. – The City of Henderson will shine a little brighter on Father’s Day weekend when the Glow Worm 5K Fun Run begins at
9 p.m. on Saturday, June 15 at Equestrian Park South, 1298 Equestrian Dr.

This year’s Fun Run will feature a course along Equestrian Trail, a favorite for runners, hikers and cyclists because it connects to the River Mountains Loop Trail. The route will crisscross and loop around the park. Since the run will take place at night and under the stars, participants are encouraged to bring a flashlight or headlamp. Glow-in-the-dark outfits and accessories are suggested.

Entry costs are:
• $25 Now through May 14
• $35 May 15-June 14
• $40 Day of event

Use activity code 153313-58 when registering online or in person at one of the city’s recreation centers.

Run packets may be picked up between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. on June 13 at Heritage Park Aquatic Complex, 310 S. Racetrack Rd., or prior to the event at Equestrian Park South. The first 350 registered participants will receive a T-shirt, glow bracelet and glow necklace.

The city is holding a same-day Glow Worm 1-Mile Walk. Registration is $15 per person now through May 14 and $20 May 15 through and including the day of the event. Register online or in person at one of the city’s recreation centers using activity code 153314-58.

The Glow Worm 5K Fun Run is Henderson’s only nighttime fun run and one of several 5Ks that are a part of the City’s fun run series:
• Zombie Run 5K & 1-Mile Walk (Oct. 19)
• Color Me Kind 5K Run & 1-Mile Walk (Nov. 16)
• Reindeer Dash 5K & 1-Mile Walk (Dec. 14)
• Cupid’s 5K Fun Run & 1-Mile Walk (February 2020).

Fun runs and walks are not timed and open to runners and walkers ages 5 years and up.

Glow Worm is part of the City of Henderson’s Healthy Henderson initiative. The fitness, health and wellness program rewards members who participate in fitness-related classes, workshops and events such as the city’s 5K runs, or work out at city recreation centers. Customized membership packages are available for purchase at any of the city’s six recreation centers, Downtown Senior Center and Heritage Park Senior Facility.
