– It’s never too late to take on new challenges or find a new passion in life. The Henderson Senior Summit will provide attendees with the information and tools they’ll need to forge a new path.
The summit for senior adults age 50+ will take place from 8:30 a.m. until noon at the Heritage Park Senior Facility, 300 S. Racetrack Rd. The event’s keynote presentation, “Living in the Zone,” will be given by Heather Haslam, wellness director at the Sanford Center for Aging at the University of Nevada, Reno. Haslam leads the center’s Community Wellness programs and facilitates self-management programs for diabetes, chronic disease and chronic pain.
The keynote will explore how everyday lifestyle habits impact the quality and length of a person’s life. Lessons learned from centenarians (adults 100+) will be explored and simple steps that can be taken to increase health and well-being will be presented.
Three mini sessions following the keynote will focus on helping participants find their passion and take on new challenges. One of the sessions will give participants an opportunity to engage the City of Henderson on important 50+ issues, as well as ask questions.
Businesses and nonprofit agencies will be on hand to provide information and answer questions on senior-related topics and services.
The free breakfast buffet will open at 8:30 a.m. with the keynote presentation kicking off the summit at 9:00 a.m.
