Motorists Ticketed for Distracted Driving During Joining Forces Event

Henderson, Nev. – Henderson Police, in conjunction with the Boulder City Police Department, ticketed 124 motorists for distracted driving violations during a nearly three-week enhanced enforcement action that ran from February 1st through February 19th.
As part of Joining Forces, a statewide law enforcement program, agencies worked together in an effort to make roadways safer by enforcing distracted driving laws, such as using a cell phone or other electronic device while driving.
Officers made a total of 512 traffic stops, issuing a total of 552 citations and giving out 74 warnings to motorists. The violations included 229 citations for speeding, 51 citations for registration and insurance violations, 19 citations for running a red light, as well as 51 citations for other various traffic offenses.
This was the fifth Joining Forces event for the Henderson Police Department under the current grant.
Henderson Police Department received $183,860 in federal funding for the extra patrols through the Nevada Department of Public Safety - Office of Traffic Safety for the 2019 Joining Forces program.
