Henderson, Nev. – On May 6, 2019, at about 6:30 a.m., Henderson Police and Fire were dispatched to the area of northbound Boulder Highway and Sunset Road in reference to an auto-pedestrian accident.

Preliminary investigation revealed an adult female driver of a 2009 Volkswagen was traveling northbound on Boulder Highway, striking an adult male in a motorized wheelchair that was traveling in the bicycle lane.

The female driver did not sustain injuries.

The male pedestrian was transported to Henderson Hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries.  His name will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office after next of kin notifications.

Northbound Boulder Highway between Sunset Road and Foster Avenue was closed for several hours while the investigation was conducted.

Preliminary investigation indicates that speed and impairment appear to be factors.

The male’s death is the fifth traffic related fatality this year in The City of Henderson.
