Henderson, Nev. - Henderson Detectives identified the victim’s girlfriend, Rita Colon, as the suspect in this case.
In January 2017, an arrest warrant was approved for Colon’s arrest for the charge of Open Murder with a Deadly Weapon with an Elder Enhancement based on the victim’s age.
On December 18, 2017, Colon was taken into custody in Peru for the Open Murder warrant, where she remained pending extradition to the United States.
On October 31, 2019, Colon’s extradition was completed with the assistance of the United States Marshal’s Office. Henderson Detectives took custody of Colon upon her arrival and she was booked into the Henderson Detention Center for the charge of Open Murder with a Deadly Weapon. Her booking photo is attached.

Henderson Police Investigating Suspicious Death
Henderson, Nev. – Henderson Police are investigating the suspicious death of a man found Saturday night inside a Henderson home.
The victim, believed to be in his mid-70s, was found by Henderson Police officers at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday night at the 2500 block of Swans Chance Avenue. Neighbors requested a welfare check after the man had not been seen or heard from since early November.
Henderson Police detectives are investigating the man’s death as a homicide as an autopsy Sunday morning found some suspicious injuries to the victim. The final autopsy results are pending.
The name of the man will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office once he has been positively identified and his family has been notified.
