Henderson Police Conclude Joining Forces Targeting Impaired Drivers

Henderson, Nev. – The Henderson Police Department concluded its 3rd campaign under the current Joining Forces Program.
 
During the enforcement initiative that ran from December 20th , 2019 through January 3rd, 2020, Henderson Police stopped 343 motorists resulting in 186 citations.

Of the 343 traffic stops, Traffic Officers completed 1 arrest for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and assisted patrol with 4 DUI investigations.  87 drivers were cited for speeding, 5 cited for distracted driving (such as cell phone use), 35 cited for red light violations, 5 cited for no insurance, as well as several other citations issued for other traffic related offenses.

The Henderson Police Department received $201,000 in federal funding for the extra enforcement initiatives through the Nevada Department of Public Safety - Office of Traffic Safety for the 2020 Joining Forces program.  The grant provides funding for enforcement and education to reduce deaths and injuries on Nevada roadways. Enforcement events during the year focus on pedestrian safety, seat belt use, speeding, distracted driving and impaired driving.
