Henderson Police Conclude Joining Forces Event Targeting Speeders

Henderson, Nev. – The Henderson Police Department concluded its 5th campaign under the current Joining Forces Program.

During the enforcement initiative that ran from January 31st through February 17th, 2020, Henderson Police stopped a total of 270 motorists.

Of the 270 traffic stops, motorists were issued 192 speeding citations, 4 citations for distracted driving (such as cell phone use), 10 citations for registration and driver’s license violations,  3 citations for red light violations, 8 citations for no insurance, as well as several other citations issued for other traffic related offenses. Additionally, 49 motorists were issued a warning, in lieu of a citation.

The Henderson Police Department received $201,000 in federal funding for the extra enforcement initiatives through the Nevada Department of Public Safety - Office of Traffic Safety for the 2020 Joining Forces program.  The grant provides funding for enforcement and education to reduce deaths and injuries on Nevada roadways. Enforcement events during the year focus on pedestrian safety, seat belt use, speeding, distracted driving and impaired driving.
